123 agreement signed with the US Government is

123 agreement signed with the us government is a an act connected with Atomic Energy usage with corporation other country nations. US atomic energy act section 123 prohibits nuclear energy fuel transfer and technology provision to other countries. US and India signed 123 agreement which enables transferring of nuclear energy power technologies and fuels for civil nuclear energy purposes. Civil Nuclear reactors can transfer the nuclear fuels by signing an agreement acceptable to  International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)  from nuclear fuel suppliers. In simple the agreement legally allows the transfer of Nuclear fuels such as Uranium, Thorium, nuclear reactors, its technology to India for civil energy purposes. 123 agreement signed with the US Government restricts India in handing over and provision of nuclear & atomic energy technology, fuels, reactors etc. to other countries. By approval of  IAEA ( international atomic energy agency), India can get enough nuclear energy fuels from fuel suppliers. By signing the 123 agreement, US can retail the ban effect of their Section 123 of US atomic energy action but in same time US nuclear fuel suppliers and nuclear rector manufacturers can sell their nuclear fuels and nuclear reactors to India for civil energy purpose.

US Gets Nuclear fuels raw materials from India

Good Percentage of raw material for nuclear reactor fuels are supplied from India to US. India mines and exports ilmenite, mono-site and several raw materials used to produce main nuclear fuels like thorium, Uranium etc. The Mineral beach sand mined from Alappuzha, Kollam beaches contribute the main potential quantity of production of thorium and Uranium used in nuclear reactors of US. The high mineral contained sand bars spitted by sea waves makes many coastal areas rich with ilmenite and mono-site. May seashores of Kollam, Alappuzha districts in Kerala and many coastal areas for Bihaar, India are considered most rich areas of ilmenite and mono site which are the main raw materials for the production of nuclear fuels.
